Cracker – Pocahontas (Behind The Scenes)

1-2-hear : Ronster (B.G.R)

This is an introduction to Ronster (B.G.R) the latest female grime mc/ rapper from London’s East End to hit the UK urban music scene. Rhyming over harsh hip-hop breaks ,grime programed beats, melodic piano licks, ground driving bass lines and electro sounding riffs Ronster (B.G.R) vocally demonstrates on an array of personal, varied and versatile topic’s . Official video release of No_Luv and her free download Hood Tapez Volume 1 mix-tape demonstrates what can only be described as real, cutting edge, innovative, non- watered down and heart felt street music. The track (No_Luv) is a gripping synopsis of Ronster’s agitated rhyme style and her realistic thought process which makes a strong statement about the way it is for our youth growing up on the b-side of London’s gritty streets. The track opens up with a sample from the original “No Love” by East /South London’s 90s R&B group Nine yards and is scratched through out the choruses of Ronster’s three and a half minute bomb shell.

East London’s Dizzee Rascal (an inspiration to Ronster (B.G.R) along with Eminem) recently performed at the Olympics opening ceremony in her home town of Stratford and this put the grime music of East London firmly on the world map. The No_Luv video was also shot in Stratford but on the tough Carpenters Estate symbolizing where Ronster grew up, started making music and shows her going back to her roots. The BBC recently interviewed Ronster in relation to the area of Olympian Stratford where she enlightened that in 2005 when Stratford wasn’t so glamorous and the Olympic venue was announced the council moved all the tenants out of three blocks on her estate. This is where we find the raw home grown talent in East London estates ; from the real persons radar and now onto the global radar too. Ronster (B.G.R) is only going for GOLD!!!!

The East London native raised in Stratford E15 is no freshmen to the mic as she has already spent time working her way through the underground British scene. In this time Ronster (B.G.R) has perfected her lyrical content , polished her craft, worked with a list of producers and mc’s amongst many including Mz Bratt, Scratcha DVA, Fumin, ChipMunk (CHIP) and Double S . Early radio/press support comes from BBC 1xtra, Choice, BBC3, Dubstep FM, Itch FM, View Hip Hop, SBTV DJ Melody Kanes Home grown podcast and various pirate stations.

Lejend – The Great Truth (ft Donwill, Opio, Count Bass D)

The Great Truth is a passionate and introspective piece of work. It embodies the raw energy of early nineties hip hop but the contemporary elegance of new age hip hop. With the lead single produced by Count Bass D and featuring Original Soul, it takes you back to the golden era of hip hop without sounding dated as O Soul and Lejend trade 16’s about their musical prowess and pursuits. Tracks like “Prosper” and “Hiatus”, two of the album’s highlights, produced by Jlew SoulRehab.

They really showcase Lejend’s penchant for precise lyricism and a conceptual approach that he takes throughout this new offering. Lejend exposes his true depth on “Slavery2Presidency” as he waxes philosophical about the journey blacks have had in America over smooth and soul charged MSlago production with melodic overtones from Mz Fortune. He really puts his stamp on the listeners with the Juicy-produced, Donwill- assisted heater “This Life” as they flow about the trials and tribulations of This Life.

Lejend spits about coming of age as an emcee and long road left to travel. The Great Truth is a powerful collection of thoughts, experiences and concepts. Accompanied by dynamic production and lyrics that go beneath the surface, you will want to hear more from this Texas emcee.

AUDIO: Josh Xantus – Love Games (ft. Jadakiss)

Who else hates Josh X?

Besides Brian McKnight there have been very few male R&B artists that could move a soul quite the way Josh Xantus could with the combination of his soulful voice partnered with his ability to play the keys. “I go through my pain on the piano”, says Josh who is a graduate from the highly esteemed school of Juilliard. Being so talented can stem a lot of jealousy from your peers, so in honor of that animosity Josh’s new Mixtape is titled “Everybody Hates Josh X” – dropping April 30, 2012! Look out for Josh Xantus’ official video to his hit R&B single “Take 2”, dropping in New York mid April.
