Reds ‘Raiders of the Lost Art’ (Prod. by Edible Beatz) #EP @ParkStreetPR

Ill minds have combined from the UK to the Netherlands to drop a gem of a project that creeps up out of nowhere with a heavy dose of crunchy drums, slick loops and razor sharp wordplay for heads that need their hip hop fix raw and undiluted.

This time around Reds of Soldjasoulz has teamed up with Edible Beatz, the 3 man deejay crew comprising of P-Trikz, Kai and Relski. These mainstays of the hip hop scene in Holland made their name as beatmakers by unearthing obscure 90s tracks and giving them new life with remixes so authentic they could be from the original recording sessions. These guys are serious crate diggers, masters of a lost art expertly handling the production of this release top to bottom and carving out a sound that will appeal to those wanting something new and fresh that still pays homage to the golden era vibe.

This EP finds Reds in his element taking the listener on a lyrical journey from deeper introspective cuts like ‘The Essence’ to old skool inspired party jams like ‘Pull Up’ showcasing his unique brand of roots and reality bars that have seen him opening up shows for an array of massive artists from Souls of Mischief to Phi Life Cypher. The imagery conjured up on this project is that of a misfit bunch of hip hop disciples scrambling through the ruins of a forgotten temple studying ancient scriptures that have long been forgotten about by the masses in their pop rap induced comas.

Peeling back the layers there is something on here for everyone to relate to, working equally well as late night headphone fodder or blasting out of a booming system. In the hunt for something true to the artform in 2014 you need to look no further…

‘Quality lyrics & punchlines’
‘A real impressive selection of Boom Bap’
‘This is fully certified, you need this’
‘Truly elevated lyricism & some amazing production’
‘Well worth checking if you like quality underground Hip-Hop’
